The history of Kalymnos is lost in depths of centuries. By the Neoclassic season the island they was lived from Kares and Lelekes that came from the Asia Minor. Much later around in 1000 B.C. they pass from Kalymnos Aioleis and Dorians, while the first discoveries of prosperity of island present at the age of the Kingdom of Mycines.

The first historical report for Kalymnos was from the Homer where he reported the "Kalydnes islands", that included the islands Kalymnos, Kos, Kasos, Karpathos and Nisyros. In his report , Homer wrotes about 30 boats that took part in the Troy War, number that shows economic blossoming but also samples of specialisation in the shipping. Afterwards the end of war, soldiers that did not turn in Greece, stayed to the island and founded a settlement that was named Argos.,

Member of first Athenian Alliance, finds itself in the possession of Artemisians and Persians afterwards the end of Allied War. Alexander the Great releaseed Kalymnos from Persians, until it is conquered by the Romen.

At 557 A.D. a terrible earthquake changes drammaticaly the ground. Most settlements lost and the settlement of Myrties sinks in the sea with the valley between Telendos Island and Myrties.

The 7th century it is characterized by the raids of Persians and Arabs, that lead to the relocation of residents of Kalymnos to settlements that are encompassed from walls.

From 1100 and up to 1523 it is threatened by Turks and the Crusaders. This was the reason if manufacturing the castles of island. First the castle of Chora and afterwards the Castle of Hrysoheria protects the residents from the raids. .

In 1523 Kalymnos is delivered to Turks maintaining a kind of autonomy because it is not lived by the conquerors. This gives in the residents the opportunity to come out from the walls and live a normal life working with the sponges peach and the trade which restarts .

In 1912 Kalymnos passes with the Dodekanisa in the possession of Italians. Followed gy the German possession and the final release on 7th of March 1947.
